Attendance

According to Minnesota State law, children must attend school regularly. Please review the information below to ensure that your student's attendance is recorded properly.

Reporting a Full-Day Absence

Preferred Method: Parents/guardians are encouraged to use Skyward to report absences online.

Or call the Attendance Line: 952-401-5310
Please include:

  • Student’s first and last name (spell last name)
  • Grade level
  • Reason for the absence.  If your child has a fever over 100 degrees, please let us know.

Late Arrivals (Tardy)

MMW’s school day starts at 9:20am. Any student arriving after 9:20am is considered tardy. Parents have three options to excuse their child' s late arrival.

1. Excuse the absence in Skyward (preferred). This can be done prior to the late arrival or after the student has arrived at school. We will always welcome the student in the building whether it is approved or not.

2. Call the Attendance Line: 952-401-5310

Please include:

  • Student’s first and last name (spell last name)
  • Grade level
  • Reason for their late arrival.

3. A note from their doctor, dentist or health care provider.

Requesting an Early Dismissal

Parents/guardians may choose one of the following options:

1. Skyward (preferred) – Submit before 12:00 PM.

  • Students are added to the Early Release List.
  • Students are responsible for informing their teacher.
  • The office will not call classrooms.
  • Students will sign out of the building in the Guidance/Attendance Office. This ensures we have an accurate record and confirms that the student has safely left the building.

2. Send a signed note with the student and have them drop it off at the Guidance/Attendance office in the morning.

  • Must include the dismissal time.
  • The student follows the same procedure as above

3. Arrive at school at the designated time to pick up the student.

  • Sign their student out of the building using the QR Code in the front entry. The Guidance/Attendance office will call the students' classroom to dismiss them.

Late Arrivals & Early Dismissals

All students arriving late or leaving early must use Door #1 and check in/out at the Guidance/Attendance Office. This ensures we have an accurate record and confirms that the student has safely left or arrived at the building
