Superintendent David Law Named AASA President-Elect

David Law, superintendent of the Minnetonka Public Schools, has been voted in as the 2024-25 president-elect of AASA, The School Superintendents Association, the nation’s premier organization representing more than 13,000 school system leaders nationwide.

This role is a volunteer leadership position for the national superintendents’ association, and Superintendent Law will serve in that capacity while remaining superintendent at Minnetonka Public Schools.

Law was named superintendent in Minnetonka in 2022 after serving in a similar role with the Anoka-Hennepin Public School District in Anoka, Minn. for eight years.

“Superintendent Law exemplifies learner-centric, collaborative, future-minded leadership in public education while serving his district with integrity, enthusiasm and excellence," said David R. Schuler, executive director, AASA. “David’s tireless efforts to reach new heights of academic success in the communities he serves have been nothing short of outstanding. It will be an honor to work side-by-side with him in his new role as president-elect.”

Joining AASA in 2010, Law is a current member of the organization’s executive committee. He also served as 2019-20 president of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.

“Public education is the cornerstone of our society. As leaders, we have the obligation and privilege to provide dynamic opportunities, pathways and supports that all children are entitled to experience,” said Law. “My AASA leadership experience has shown me the power of working with leaders across the nation. As AASA president-elect, I will foster continued collaboration and learning. Together, we’ll find new ways to partner and embrace innovative efforts in program development, experiential learning, hiring and retention and community engagement.”

Law earned his Juris Doctor (JD) from William Mitchell College and a bachelor’s degree from Hamline University. Both schools are located in St. Paul, Minn.

Law and other newly elected AASA governance members will begin their terms on July 1, 2024.
