Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week 2022

Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week 2022

Minnetonka Schools is celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 2-6 and taking the opportunity to recognize the outstanding educators who make the District shine. From the earliest learners in Minnetonka Preschool to Minnetonka High School seniors preparing to graduate, Minnetonka teachers inspire excellence and provide consistent support to help each student excel.

Throughout the opportunities and challenges of this year, teachers have shown up with with kindness, creativity, flexibility and humor. They’ve made extraordinary efforts to ensure each student is cared for and challenged to reach their full potential.

Last month, the District asked families and students to share stories of the many ways teachers have made a difference in their lives this year. Here are a few of the moments they shared.

  • “Our third grader has two fantastic teachers who make learning fun. This fabulous duo showcases each student's strengths through kind encouragement and creativity. Even the Google Meets are fun because they send the kids on treasure hunts and engage the individual learner. Thanks for all your work and commitment, we see you and know the extra time it takes to be such amazing educators!”
  • “Many of my IB teachers at Minnetonka have showed they truly care about my education by making a very clear effort to make sure we are learning in the best way possible.”
  • “Our teacher this year is phenomenal. She is encouraging, thoughtful and fun, and she continues to make learning exciting. She has brought our son out of his shell and made him love to learn new things every day. He absolutely loves having her as his teacher and loves to go to school now more than ever.”
  • “Our son’s teacher has genuinely shown she appreciates his unique perspective and energy. She has really been critical in helping to foster a growth mindset while celebrating the true spirit of our child.”
  • “A high school department lead recently took time from her busy schedule to explain more details for me about class choices for our son, and the possible best fit for him in the future, even though he does not have her this year as a teacher. I sure appreciate this willingness to help guide!”
  • “Our child’s teacher helps time and time again not only in academic support, but in social emotional support, too. We are beyond grateful for her contributions to our child and our family.”
  • “One teacher has made a difference for our family by going above and beyond with his help, support, guidance, ‘tough love" and humorous abilities. He has motivated my kid to ‘push through’ some really tough situations. Thank you! We literally couldn't get through these high school years without you!”

Teachers, your impact is immeasurable. On behalf of the Minnetonka Schools community, thank you for all you do, for who you are, and for every single day of excellence.
