Celebrating School Psychologists 2022

This week is National School Psychology Awareness Week! Minnetonka celebrates the psychologists who serve the Minnetonka Schools community every day with dedication and compassion. This week is a time to recognize the important work school psychologists do to support students and families in our district.

“I currently support both students in general education and special education. I do so through helping them navigate middle school academically, socially, and emotionally,” said Stephanus Badenhorst, the new school psychologist intern at Minnetonka Middle School East (MME).

At Minnetonka, school psychologists play an integral role in helping students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally by working to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments. They play a critical role in supporting student wellbeing and creating learning environments where every student can pursue their highest levels of academic and personal achievement.

“My favorite part of my day is when a student stops by or stops me in the hallway to celebrate something they achieved or overcame. A pleasant surprise working at MME this school year has been the work culture. Everyone is always willing to do what is needed to best support student needs. The conversations here are fixed on student needs and how to maximize student potential,” continued Badenhorst.

Let's celebrate the expertise and amazing support that school psychologists bring to Minnetonka Schools. Thank you, school psychologists!
