Tim Litfin

Tim Litfin is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. He has been the Executive Director for Minnetonka Community Education (MCE) since 2004. Prior to his executive leadership role with Minnetonka Schools, Mr. Litfin served as the community education director with Waconia Public Schools for 11.5 years, and before that he was in a similar role for 5.5 years with Jordan Public Schools.

Under Mr. Litfin’s leadership: serving the community, program excellence in growth and innovation, marketing, hiring talented staff, creating partnerships, connecting volunteers to program opportunities, and a belief that programming should be unique and meaningful, has driven MCE to an unparalleled level in the State of Minnesota.

Premier programming, as well as distinctive events like the Tonka Youth Triathlon, Tour de Tonka, Tonka Top Chef, the Chase competitions, and more lead the lineup of MCE unique offerings. Factor in the excellent mainstay programming of Minnetonka Preschool, ECFE, a robust enrichment and recreation program, and Explorers to mention a few that anchor down the lineup, and you have a first-class community education program. MCE has received 19 state and national awards for programming since 2009. No other program can match that level of excellence.

Away from MCE, Mr. Litfin is very involved in his church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia. He is an active MSHSL sports official in football, basketball, and baseball. Mr. Litfin also performs as an emcee and a live auctioneer for organizational fund raisers. He is an active bike rider, a recreational advocate, loves yard and landscaping projects, playing with his children and grandchildren, and is a lifelong learner.

Mr. Litfin received his bachelor’s degree at Mankato State University and his master’s degree in Community Education from the University of St. Thomas.

Mr. Litfin is married to his wife Yvonne who is a first-grade teacher at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Waconia. Tim and Yvonne have three children and four grandchildren.

Some of his favorite memories are seeing the joy in a preschooler’s eyes on the first day of school. Emceeing the start of Tour de Tonka each year where thousands of riders come from across the country. Seeing his family participate in MCE programs, hanging out with and enjoying his mother, mother-in-law, siblings and in-laws. Hosting as many as 50 family and cousins for Thanksgiving each year, running 18 marathons (some with family), and more.
