What is e-learning?
"e-Learning" is school days where teachers offer electronic academic learning experiences via Schoology, Seesaw and Google Learning Management Systems.
When will teachers connect with students about e-learning expectations
Teachers will use the first day of e-Learning as a time to set clear expectations with students via Schoology, Seesaw with links provided in the Google Doc. Direction will be provided regarding expectations in this e- learning environment, pertaining but not limited to:
- Accessing resources
- Task requirements
- Deadlines
- How to ask questions
- Teacher prep time
How will parents be notified regarding e-Learning expectations?
The decision would be communicated through an automated phone call, email, social media and posted to the district website.
Will attendance be taken for a e-learning day?
Yes. Teachers will enter student attendance into Skyward by 3:00 pm daily. Students will need to respond to a teacher prompt specifically for attendance each day before 3.
Can students check in to classes after 3:00 pm?
Yes, but you will be marked absent for that school day. If your child is ill and unable to complete coursework, the parent will submit an absence request via Skyward.
Can students be required to be online at a particular time?
Yes, in grades 4-5. During this time, there should be teacher/class interaction through Schoology, Google Meet, and/or discussion boards.
What if students have extenuating circumstances (e.g. watching siblings, etc.)?
Students and families will proactively make alternative plans with teachers based on need.
How long do students have to be in each class?
There is not a required amount of class time expected for students. The amount of time students spent on work in the classroom varies daily by student and assignment. Students/Parents are required to check into Google Doc daily for information on each subject. Teachers will communicate lesson expectations on a daily basis. Teachers will follow the typical 6 day schedule and time frame. We do not expect students to be on a computer all day. We expect students will spend similar time e-Learning at home as they do at school. For example: A student might join a small group lesson for math live during their regular math time, complete an assignment or practice, then work on IXL, and complete assigned work.
What flexibility do students have in their daily schedule?
Students are required to check in to the Google Doc via Schoology/Seesaw by 8:40 each day. The intent is to follow the school schedule as closely as possible.
Are students able to work ahead in their classes?
Yes, as much as the teacher allows.
When will student work be available?
Teachers will have lessons available by 8:00 am each day. Parents will receive a daily email from their principal with directions on how to connect with lessons for the day.
What is the deadline for work completed on a e-learning day?
The deadline for work completion will be determined and explicitly communicated by the teacher. Teachers will provide students ample time to complete assignments which may be more time than would normally be provided in class.
How will the in-class workload transfer to the e-learning environment?
Students will complete work assigned by each teacher to demonstrate their knowledge of the grade level essential learning targets in content students study following the 6-day cycle. The workload should be similar to a typical day in school.
What do students do if they are enrolled in a 4th/5th grade orchestra or 5th grade classroom music, band or vocal music course?
Music teachers will clarify expectations with students via the Google Doc on music class or lesson days. This will work the same for each teacher and or service provider that works with your child.
How will students receive their assignments from specialists?
Specialists will post assignments on the grade level Google Doc following the 6-day cycle.
How will students be tested?
Tests should keep pace with instruction. This may be a test in the online environment or this be a test in class upon return to school. Teachers will communicate with students via the Google Doc, Schoology, Seesaw. Please allow students to complete assessments on their own. Some assessments are used, in part, to help teachers know what went well in the learning and what may still need more instruction.
Will typical summative assessments still happen?
The US Department of Education has relieved all states of their testing this year.
NOTE: Not all students take all the listed assessments.
- ALL NWEA Testing: Cancelled.
- MCA Testing: Cancelled
- Classroom Summative Assessments: Teachers will continue to use a combination of current assessments and alternative assessments for students to demonstrate their learning.

How will students be graded?
