Minnetonka Unified Community Fund
The Minnetonka Unified Community Scholarship Fund was established in 2023 to honor the special needs athletes of Minnetonka High School and contribute to Minnetonka's efforts to promote inclusivity in its community. One scholarship will be awarded each spring to a Minnetonka High School senior who:
- Has an IEP or other special needs assessment or program
- Has participated in Minnetonka Adapted Athletics, Special Olympics, and/or Unified Club for a minimum of 2 years
- Has a goal of continuing educational or vocational pursuit following graduation
Background
The Fund was established to recognize and celebrate special needs students who have represented Minnetonka High School and experienced the dedication, community and joy that comes from participating in high school sports. Athletics are important and students have benefitted greatly from the life lessons and pride that have come from being a Skipper. Through participation in the Minnetonka Unified Club, students have seen first-hand the positive impact that sports and Minnetonka's community of inclusion can have on all of the students that participate. This scholarship will support and honor the hard work, dedication and incredible achievements of these student athletes and celebrate the love of community, competition, and sport that the Unified, Adapted, and Special Olympics programs offer Minnetonka High School students of all abilities.
