1994-95 Varsity Competition Cheer Squad

The 1994-95 Varsity Competition Cheer Squad from Minnetonka High School were a talented, hardworking, dedicated team. To be a member, the girls needed to be able to cheerlead, perform stunts, dance and do gymnastics, all in one routine.

Thirty years ago there were only two competitive divisions. Without the smaller divisions that exist now, teams from around the country were competing against each other to claim the national title. Because cheerleading was more popular in other areas, the Minnetonka team decided to travel farther to participate in training camps with better programs and a higher level of difficulty.

The extra effort paid off when they outperformed all other teams in the state competition and took second place at regions. For the first time in Skipper history, heir high scores qualified them for the National High School Cheerleading Championships, one of the most prestigious competitions in the country.

The teams's national success brought Minnetonka competitive high school cheerleading to a whole new level. They are grateful for their outstanding coaches Deb Malmsten and Linda Theis and the bond they share as teammates.

Congratulations to the 1994-1995 Minnetonka Cheerleading Team for their ground breaking season and their induction into the Skipper Hall of Fame!
