Tonka Dance Academy
MCE And Dance Endeavors have come together to create a new dance partnership! We welcome Juli Mickelson, Owner/Director of Dance Endeavors, to lead the program. These classes are designed to help your child improve flexibility and strength, learn fun new dance moves, and meet new friends! Registration is open now for the following classes:
Study ballet based on the Vaganova method of instruction. Your technique will soar and you will develop grace and strength as your body learns the art of classical ballet.
A combination of tap and ballet for young children. Learn ballet and tap techniques while enjoying creativity in dance. The focus is on movement, music and enjoyment.
Learn moves you can perform on the stage, at a school dance, or anywhere. Class includes warm-up, stretching, conditioning and choreography and promises to challenge even the most seasoned vets while still allowing complete beginners to get a solid and fun introduction to this style.
A flowing jazz class emphasizing interpretation and expressiveness. Learn flexibility, grace and fluidity in this beautiful dance style. Dancers learn to minimize transitions as they connect each step.
Incorporating an eclectic blend of contemporary and postmodern movement, you’ll learn the concepts of contraction/release, musicality and rhythm. Class includes a deep, fluid warm-up with an emphasis on correct alignment and floor work to explore your style while challenging your technique and performance abilities.
(Pointe classes are by invitation only. Must have a minimum of 2 years ballet training and be entering middle school. Dancers must enroll in at least 2 ballet classes per week in order to take pointe).
Gain the stamina and flexibility to perform choreography through core work; use different kinds of energy to master turns, leaps and jumps; explore cause and effect and learn muscle control to clean basic and advanced steps. Students will gain unison, height and technique.
Gain coordination and rhythm, and work on those quick twitch muscle skills. Work to your own level and have fun. We use a broadway style of tap while incorporating modern techniques as well. Learn tap sounds from popular musicals as well as a cappela steps. Have a hoot hoofing it!
