Negative Balance Policy

The Nutrition Services Department procedures for monitoring student meal accounts comply with USDA guidance on collection of debt for meal accounts as well as avoiding debt in meal accounts. The meal account works similar to a bank debit account. Money is deposited into the account and then as purchases are made by the student, the money is drawn off of the account. The account is not to be used as a credit card account, where purchases accumulate for payment at a later date.
