Congratulations to our Minnetonka Varsity Cheerleaders, who had an outstanding 2019-20 season, ending the year as 2020 MN State Champions, 2020 MN State Grand Champions, 2020 National Champions and 2020 World Champions.
On February 1, Tonka Cheer swept the Minnesota State Cheerleading Competition, winning 1st place in Game Day Routine and in Traditional Routine. They were also honored as overall Grand Champions, winning the title by achieving the highest score of all teams competing at State. In addition, two seniors, Elisabeth Bautista and a Bryn Howe, were each awarded $1000 scholarships from the Minnesota Cheerleading Coaches Association.
This past weekend, they competed in the prestigious UCA National Cheerleading competition in Orlando, Florida. The team left it all on the mats, winning 1st place in the nation in Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Traditional Routine and 1st place in Worlds Competition, with an additional award for highest score of all teams performing in the Small and Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling division at Worlds. Last, but not least, they earned 4th Place in the nation in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day Division.
Everyone at Minnetonka Public Schools is extremely proud of the team's amazing performance!
