New Website Translation Tool
New Website Translation Tool

Minnetonka Public Schools is pleased to announce that the district's website, and all individual school pages, will now have the ability for users to translate page content into one of several languages through Weglot, an international leader in language translation since 2016.

A button can be found on the bottom right of every web page on the District website. Clicking on this will allow users to select their desired language from a dropdown list, and the page will instantly appear in that language. While text will initially be automatically translated, it can also be manually updated by staff if an incorrect translation is found. There is still video, pdf and infographic content that currently cannot be translated by this tool. The District will continue to look at ways to make all content translatable.

Dr. JacQui Getty, executive director of communications, says, "Website translation options will provide our families and staff who are non-native speakers with better access to the key information and resources they are seeking. This will go a long way toward providing access and support to each and every student, parent and community member."

At launch, the District will offer translations for the most common languages that District families speak, but there will be the option to add more languages in future. Languages the website will now be viewable in, other than English, include:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Hebrew
  • Korean
  • Russian
  • Somali
  • Spanish
  • Vietnamese
