Minnewashta Helps Firefighters Comfort Kids
Minnewashta Helps Firefighters Comfort Kids

Firefighters are often called to help during difficult times for families. For small children, it can be especially scary and traumatic. Minnewashta 3rd graders are hoping to help give a little relief to those kids.

Minnewashta 3rd graders partnered with the Chanhassen Fire Department to pack "comfort bags" for families affected by emergencies. These bags include:

  • hat and gloves
  • small fleece blanket
  • stuffed animal
  • facial tissue
  • blank journal
  • crayons
  • play-doh
  • stress ball
  • book
  • granola bar

In addition to packing bags, the students learned all about fire safety in class and then gathered for a Q&A with four firefighters before getting to see their fire truck.
