Minnetonka Theatre's Fall Musical Honored

The Hennepin Theatre Trust has honored the Minnetonka Theatre's 2018 spring musical Bright Star by featuring it in their Spotlight Musical Theatre Program. The show was honored with 21 awards, including the coveted Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical.

"I am thrilled for our MHS "Bright Star" cast, crew, orchestra and staff," said Minnetonka artistic director Trent Boyum. "Their dedication to this program is inspiring and they deserve every accolade!"

The Spotlight Musical Theatre Program is the Hennepin Theatre Trust's premier education initiative honoring Minnesota high school theatre programs.

Here are some comments from the judges:
  • Minnetonka Theater is the most impressive high school program I have ever seen. Thank you for changing your students' lives!
  • What a phenomenal performance by the entire cast! It was the closest to a professional production that I have seen in all my years at Spotlight.
  • I was in tears by the second song and continued to find myself emotionally invested throughout the whole beautiful and moving show.
  • I enjoyed hearing the audience react to your gorgeous show. I've never been to a musical in which the audience was so viscerally and emotionally moved.
  • Your backstage crew has an ingrained sense of professionalism, while still having fun! People spend their entire professional careers trying to balance these two things and you have it down pat!
