Actors from the MHS spring musical

Minnetonka Theatre is getting ready to rock the Renaissance with Something Rotten, the funniest musical Broadway has seen in 400 years! Artistic Director, Trent Boyum said, “You won’t want to miss our spring musical, the hilarious Shakespearean spoof Something Rotten. It’s been a tough year and we all thought, we need to laugh, and this brilliant new musical comedy will have you in stitches.” Boyum added, “To keep audiences and actors safe, our crew is turning the back parking lot into a mini outdoor Renaissance theater. Sort of Shakespeare in the Parking Lot! Our students can’t wait to sing and dance for you under the stars!”

Due to COVID precautions, all performances will be held outdoors in our back parking lot, so patron capacity is limited, and reservations are required. Performances will be physically distanced for both actors and audience members, including pod seating for groups of up to 6 patrons, and observing all social distancing requirements including masks.

About Something Rotten

Set in the '90s – the 1590s – brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, they set out to write the world’s very first musical instead. What they end up with proves to be a hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.
