Ava Lindsay Receives 2023 Athena Award

The Minnetonka High School community congratulates Skippers Girls Hockey -forward Ava Lindsay – our 2023 Minnetonka High School Athena Award recipient.

Lindsay accepted her award at the 51st Annual Athena Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 5th at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.

The Athena Awards was founded in 1972 by the Sports and Attraction Committee, Women’s Division Greater Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce to encourage and recognize outstanding female high school athletes. The Athena Award is given to one senior female athlete from each participating school who has distinguished herself in special individual athletic achievement.

The first Athena Awards luncheon was held in the spring of 1973 with Minnetonka High School as one of the original participating schools. Currently, 52 Minnesota high schools participate in the program.
