At Minnetonka, IB students engage in deep, thought-provoking curriculum in six study areas: Language and Literature, World Language Acquisition, History, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics, and Arts and Electives. All IB Diploma candidates take the Theory of Knowledge course junior year and complete an Extended Essay (EE) on a topic of their choice by December of senior year. Juniors and seniors often join ranks for organized Community, Activity and Service (CAS) experiences that fulfill the CAS requirement. Through their courses, students learn how to think critically and be an active member of the global society.

IB Diploma Candidates form a community of academically motivated students who share a common goal. However, they are not isolated. Students study alongside scores of other Minnetonka students pursuing individual IB courses and foster friendships through fine arts, athletics, clubs and extracurricular pursuits.

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners.
