The mission of Minnetonka’s Media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; to empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. Certified media specialists work in each media center, providing a variety of services.
We provide engaging learning experiences that meet individual needs in the areas of:o Digital Citizenship/Digital Health & Wellness
o Media Literacy/Literature Appreciation
o Research Information Fluency
o Technology Operations/Concepts
We instruct students and assist educators in using, evaluating, and producing information and ideas using a broad range of appropriate tools, resources, and information technologies. We provide access to materials in all formats, including up-to-date, high-quality, varied literature to develop and strengthen a love of reading. We provide students and staff with instruction and resources that reflect current information needs and anticipate changes in technology and education. We play a critical role in managing and maintaining these resources. We serve as a resource for parents and community members to better support student success at home and at school.
All of our District's elementary schools have media centers equipped with computers, study space, and a diverse selection of literature to fit the taste, reading level and language needs of all students.
