Welcome to Groveland Elementary School!
As the oldest active elementary school in Minnesota, we have a rich tradition of over 160 years of learning. We are tradition, innovation and Tonka Pride!
Groveland is a high-achieving 2015 Minnesota School of Excellence that strives to personalize for all learners and families. We are leaders in 21st century learning skills, technology integration, Spanish language immersion and the creative fine arts. Our school community is a special place to grow and learn. Groveland is one of six elementary schools in Minnetonka with a steadily growing enrollment of 860 students K-5. With an emphasis on the whole child, we strive to differentiate for every learner through rigorous academics, responsive classroom, fitness and time-tested character values.
Our facility design innovations in the past decade reflect a human-centered design for learning process with child-centered learning at the heart of every classroom and learning space. These include a bold redesign of our Media Center to The Learning Commons that reflects the emerging needs of our school community as a collaborative learning environment using digital and print materials with 21st century fluency themes. We've expanded our food preparation area with nutrition in mind and added new classrooms and specialist areas on the campus to accommodate our growing enrollment including an Outdoor Classroom, courtyard and expanded parking. In addition, our unique inclusive "Green, Fit, Fun" playground exemplifies our school community's commitment to play. Our new full-size gymnasium project is underway now set to open in January 2018.
Groveland's school-home communications are paperless. Our informative monthly school E-Newsletter is online. With over 1,000 subscribers, we encourage families to contact us if interested in joining our user list which also includes e-announcements throughout the school year.
