Lakers Adapted Sports

The Lakers Adapted Athletics Program is cooperatively sponsored by the Minnetonka School District and the Wayzata School District and is offered in partnership with the Minnesota Adapted Athletics Association (MAAA) with the mission to provide youth with disabilities the same opportunities as other students to enjoy the benefits of a quality high school sports program.

There are two divisions: CI Division – for students with a cognitive impairment (IQ 70 or below) and PI Division – for students with a physical impairment. Students who are under 22 years of age and fully enrolled in grades 7 through 12 or in an ungraded setting are first eligible when they or their peers are in grade 7 and can participate for a maximum of eight semesters.

The Lakers team sport options includes:

  • Soccer (fall)
  • Floor hockey (winter)
  • Softball (spring)
  • Bowling (spring)
