Jr. Explorers - Ages 3-5

Junior Explorers Club is sponsored though Minnetonka Community Education and offers a flexible, high-quality childcare program for preschool-aged children. Our highly qualified staff, many of whom are licensed educators, ensure all activities are age-appropriate and provide a balance between structured and non-structured play. Children spend time with friends in activities such as listening to stories, creating art and science projects and playing outdoors.

Junior Explorers Club is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday and requires a minimum of two days of care.

Junior Explorers for Minnetonka Preschool
You may choose to combine childcare with Minnetonka Preschool, or enroll your child(ren) in only Junior Explorers. Combining Minnetonka Preschool and Junior Explorers Club childcare is a great option for families looking for high-quality childcare and a world-class preschool program. Staff accompany children between programs and ensure they are supervised at all times.

Wrap Community Ed activities into your child's day
Minnetonka Community Education offers a variety of enrichment and recreational activities that can be wrapped into your child’s day at the Minnetonka Community Education Center (MCEC). Your child can attend preschool, take a dance, gymnastics, music or language class and go to Junior Explorers childcare— all between drop-off and pick-up! Our staff will accompany children between each activity to ensure a safe, supervised transition.

Schedule
We ask parents to enroll their children in Explorers on a consistent schedule, two to five days, at the same time increments each week. Changes to a family’s schedule must be made in writing or in their FeePay account at least one week before modifications are set to take effect. Requests will be approved on a space-available basis and there will be a $10 fee per child for each change.

Adding a day to your schedule is an option. Additions will be approved on a space-available basis and require 24-hour advanced notice. Add-a-Day rates apply.

Illness or Emergency

If your child becomes ill while at Explorers, you will be contacted and asked to pick them up within one hour. We will try to provide your child with a quiet area to rest until you arrive. School district policy requires that children have no fever, vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning. Please contact us if your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease so we can alert all families that their child may have been exposed.

In the event of an emergency, parents will be notified as soon as possible. If the parents cannot be reached, we will call the person you have indicated for us to call. If necessary, children will be transported to Methodist Hospital by a local emergency unit for treatment. The child will be transported at the parents’ expense. Children who receive minor injuries will be given first-aid and parents will be notified. All staff are trained in emergency first-aid procedures.

Prolonged Illness - If you know your child will be out sick for several days; please notify the site supervisor and billing and enrollment as soon as possible. If the child is absent from the program due to illness or accident, we require payment as follows:

1 day or 2 consecutive contracted days = full tuition rate

3 consecutive contracted days = 50% of daily rate

4 or more consecutive contracted days = 25% of daily rate

Your child’s place will be held. Account adjustments will appear on the monthly invoice.

Vacations and other Plans - If you know your child will be on vacation, at a play date, has a doctor appointment, or will be gone for any reason, please notify your Explorers Club site supervisor with the dates that s/he will be gone. There is no credit for missing regularly scheduled days of Explorers Club. However, you will not incur the additional $10 child search fee.

How does billing work for Junior Explorers Club?

Fees are charged based on the days and program components you registered for, not on attendance (see prolonged illness for exceptions). You will not receive credit for late arrival or early pick-up, nor when children leave Junior Explorers Club to participate in other activities.

An email will be sent (after each month of service) when invoices are ready to be viewed online. The monthly fees will be charged to the Visa/MasterCard/Discover or checking/savings account we have on file. Charges will be processed on the 15th of each month.

A $15 fee will be added to your account if your payment method is declined for any reason. Please notify billing and enrollment or update your account online if there are any changes to your account. Past due accounts will be sent to collections and may incur legal fees.

Year-end payment summaries can be accessed online. Our Federal Tax Identification number is 41-6001402. This number is the number you need to complete your childcare expense forms.

If you are enrolled with your employer in a Flex Benefit Plan, forms will be signed only after payment has been received. Please contact Billing and Enrollment if you have any questions.
